This page is intended to provide an overview of accessibility resources at the University of Texas and around Austin. If you know of additional relevant resources that are not yet mentioned, please reach out to help us continue to improve our list!

UT Event Accessibility Guide 

This document provides OTM's tips for creating an accessibility plan for events at UT and our evaluation of the accessibility of various spaces on campus where groups can host events. Please use this resource to make your group's events more accessible!

Mobility Device Accessible Transportation

​Cap Metro (Free with UT ID)

  • All Cap Metro buses are mobility device accessible.

    • The bus driver will provide support with both getting in and out of the bus and securing the mobility device to the bus

  • All rides on the buses are free with your UT ID card

  • Use this trip planner to know which buses to take

MetroAccess (Free with UT ID)

 

Uber WAV (Costs $$)

  • Uber has an option for wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAV)

  • Instructions on how to request a WAV

    • UberWAV is available to anyone who needs it—just add it to the ride menu listed in your app by entering the code: UBERACCESSATX 

    • To apply the code in your Uber app, select ‘PAYMENT’ from the app menu. Scroll down, tap ‘Add Promo Code’, enter the code UBERACCESSATX, and tap ‘Apply’ 

    • Now you can request a ride with UberWAV. Just enter your destination and swipe the ride menu to view more options; you will find ‘WAV’ in the ‘More’ vehicle options field 

 

Yellow Cab Austin  (Costs $$)

  • They offer mobility device accessible vehicles (similar to uber and lyft)

  • Instructions

    • Create an account using the link above

    • When booking a ride, selected the “wheelchair accessible vehicle” option

 

ETA Transportation  (Costs $$)

  • Privately owner mobility device accessible transportation company

    • Specializes in NEMT (non-emergency medical transport) as well as EMT (emergency medical transport) 

  • Instructions

 

ATX Wheelchair Transport (Costs $$) 

  • Privately owner mobility device accessible transportation company

    • Specializes in NEMT (non-emergency medical transport) as well as EMT (emergency medical transport) 

    • Will also provide a wheelchair if needed

  • Wheelchair/Adapted Tennis on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at UT Whitaker Fields

  • Kayaking with Austin Adapted Sports on Fridays from 6 - 8 pm at Texas Rowing Center
